|Day 1 of 31 at Two Writing Teachers!|
Last year was my first challenge, but I was already excited because I had been participating in the Tuesday slicing community for several months, so I knew what an amazing experience the month-long challenge would be. I wrote about how magical Tuesdays are and how every day would be Tuesday for a month. I also wrote a lot of specific goals about how I hoped to grow as a writer during the challenge. Although I didn't really post about it, I was also a little nervous that I wouldn't be able to complete the whole challenge.
This year, my excitement is more profound and comes from a different place. Having completed the challenge and seen my growth as a writer and commenter, I know exactly what's in store for me. I know it will get tough in the middle, but I know that comments and the thrill of living like a writer will carry me through the tough days. Thanks to all the amazing writers in this community, I now have a huge stockpile of writing ideas for those days when I can't think of anything to write about. Best of all, I'm looking forward to a whole month of thinking like a writer again.
Furthermore, I'm so happy to share this amazing experience with my students. The first-ever classroom challenge is an incredible opportunity for them to write for an authentic audience. I hope they are inspired and encouraged by the writing and comments of others in the same way that I have been. I hope the ones who already love writing will soar and the others will warm their hearts to it as they see its power. Finally, I hope we will grow into a closer classroom community as we write together.
It's going to be a wonderful month!
