Real purpose. Real enthusiasm.

5 of 31 at Two Writing Teachers!
For the past few days, my classroom has been a hubbub of loud, messy, delightful learning.

Flash drives popping in and out of computers. Keyboards clicking. The printer purring.

Scissors scraping. Glue swishing. Markers gliding.

Voices planning, practicing, and preparing. Not the usual low hum,  but a lively rumble, sometimes escalating to a frantic roar.

Smiles and sparkling eyes.

Excitement. Pride. Community.

Even from the most timid and reticent students. Even from those who lack confidence.

Tomorrow, my ELL students, so often on the margins of high school life, will take center stage. Tomorrow, the rest of the school will come to learn from them.

Tomorrow, the StoryBox returns as the centerpiece of a school-wide celebration of story and world cultures. All around it, my students will stand as experts, presenting displays that blend stories, information, and realia as windows to their countries.

A real event. A real audience. A real purpose.

Real learning. Real enthusiasm.

  1. How awesome! What a great way for these wonderful students to be able to share a part of themselves with others. This will be a memorable day for them, and for the other students who get to learn a little bit more about another culture. This is great that you made this happen!
