The words of my heart

Day 25 of 31 at Two Writing Teachers!
Throughout the year, I've seen several slicers post word clouds from their blogs.  (Most recently, Kay posted a very cool footprint one!)  It seemed like a neat idea, but I never got around to trying it.

Today was the first weekday of break (i.e. the first day that I would have normally been in school!) and I can already tell that I'm never going to accomplish all the things that I've been hoping to do over break.  However, I'm not going to let that bother me, and I'm going to try to focus on relaxing and having fun so that I can go back to school next week refreshed and rejuvenated.

Since I spent way too long on Shutterfly today (one of my favorite hobbies that I hardly ever get to do during the school year!), I didn't leave myself much time to write.  It seemed like the perfect day to try out a word cloud!

One of my favorite quotations about writing is Wordsworth's "Fill your paper with the breathings of your heart."  According to Tagxedo, these are the words of my heart:

It seems to focus on words from the last few posts... but it's still a pretty neat visualization of what I've written about!  I love how the biggest words are READING, LOVE, STUDENTS, TEACHERS, BOOK, and TEACHING... followed closely by WRITING, SLICE, and SHARE!  :-)

I think that's a pretty good picture of me, don't you?

  1. It is a good view of you. It did miss one mark, the word delight needs to be big and bold. Maybe it didn't register since they are highlighted on your posts.

    1. You're right, Elsie! How did it miss that one? Pretty good for a computer though!

  2. I love this. I have used Wordle but I don't know if it allows you to choose a shape for your word cloud. I am interested to see what my blog posts would look like.

  3. I have tagxedo picture of my words ready for sometime this week! I hope that your break will be restful and fun! I am off to a three day new ELL standards training! (After that, my spring break begins!!!)

  4. Sweet! I like that the word "share" is so prominent here. That seems to be important, since none of us would even see this if sharing weren't in your heart!

  5. I've got to do this, Jennifer. Your "HEART CLOUD" is wonderful. You should print it out. I've had students do this so many times & never tire of seeing them. I love that someone figured it out for all of us. Your "words" give such a picture of who we think you are. You know we mostly know you by your words! I agree with Elsie-the word "delight" or "joy" is often loud & clear when you write. It's my first day of break too, just lovely! And I know what you mean about plans-I have so many!

  7. I tried a cloud, too - it's SO revealing! Different words from your cloud jump out to me - book, share, reading. Don't worry about getting a lot done during break... enjoy!
