Day 2 of 31 at TWT! |
In Ohio, March is usually pretty true to that "in like a lion" adage... or at least the first part. Often enough, it goes out like a lion too!
This year, while the forecast assures me that the lion looms tomorrow, we've been pleasantly surprised with several days of a sweet, playful lamb!
Instead of bracing myself against a roaring wind the moment I step outside, I've smiled as a light breeze playfully tossed my curls.
Instead of leaving my mask on to keep my face warmer as I scurry to the car, I've reveled in sunshine caressing my cheeks on a stroll through town.
Instead of bundling my warmest, longest coat over my heaviest sweaters over my snuggly long underwear, I've wiggled freely into a light long-sleeved t-shirt.
Instead of closing the garage door behind my car before I get out in a desperate attempt to shut out the cold, I've walked through the neighborhood with my girls.
Instead of huddling inside, reading and playing with toys, we've run wild through playgrounds and explored parks.
sunshine and joy! <3 |
If "in like a lion" means "out like a lamb" (sometimes), what will "in like a lamb" bring?
So true. I'm in Kentucky and the past few days have been a nice little tease of springtime. I even planted some seeds today. (Of course I'm keeping them inside for right now.) It's so nice to have a break from all the bundling. I liked the repetition of your piece. It creates a nice juxtaposition between seasons...which is where we are living right now.
ReplyDeleteThanks for bringing me memories of the wonderful change in seasons! I had a pause at your line of 'Instead of leaving my mask on to keep my face warmer as I scurry to the car, I've reveled in sunshine caressing my cheeks on a stroll through town.'
ReplyDeleteIt's crazy how many days have been spent outside walking without the wind and sun fully on our faces due to masks.
I love how you set-up the comparison here, with such vivid descriptions of how we face our lamb/lion Marches. Here's to sun on our faces and playgrounds all month!
ReplyDeleteI'm sure old man winter will still come back, but these days have been glorious.
